Let It Go

I goofed!  Have you ever goofed?  You know goof is such a funny little word.  It means to blunder; make an error, misjudgment, to make a mess of something.  Well, that's definitely what I did.  I made a mess of something.  Have you ever done that?  I thought so.  We humans goof up from time to time.

It's not the first time I've goofed and I'm fairly certain it won't be the last.  I would like to think that I will never goof up again, but that's only wishful thinking.

I must admit that I am a perfectionist.  Not that I do everything perfect, but I want everything to be perfect.  I'm the type that straightens pictures in my house, but the problem is I want to straighten the pictures in your house too.  Of course, I constrain myself and keep my hands off other people's pictures. However, I do slip up sometimes and straighten pictures in my daughter's house.  She brings my attention to it with a smile.

Another problem I have is after I goof, I go around beating myself up for 2 or 3 days.  But you know what?  I'm learning (it took me a while) to forgive myself and let it go.

Yesterday I saw a picture of a balloon floating away and the caption read, "Let It Go".  Such good advice for us all.  Let it go and let God.  Let God handle your goof ups.  I'm trying to remember to be quick to ask His forgiveness and then forgive myself.  Just like the picture of the balloon, just let it go.  I'm going to do that.  How about you?
