Today just happened to be one of those days, you know where everything just seems to go wrong and the devil tries to beat you up. We all have them and some more than others if we're not "hip to his jive". What do I mean by that? I don't know. Just kidding. I do know, because this is what I said to my husband this evening.
I was telling him the devil had been trying to fill my mind with his negative thoughts. By the way, he (the devil) only has negative thoughts, because the Bible says he is the "father of lies." He couldn't tell the truth if he tried.
Anyway, as I was relating to my husband that the devil had been trying to fill my mind with his demeaning junk, I just spoke out of my mouth, "but I'm hip to his jive" and I began to laugh. Then, I told him, "but don't take the bait". I didn't repeat any of the thoughts that he had been trying to fill my mind with, because I didn't want to speak it. It's junk and the Bible says to take every thought into captivity and I wasn't about to "take his bait".
You see, I think the devil is dangling the negative stuff in our mind and if we speak it out, we've taken the bait! As I said to my husband this afternoon, "but I'm hip to his jive." In other words we have to know the devil and how he operates. He is 'ole slewfoot and he tries to make us think we're nothing, but we're precious in the eyes of our Heavenly Father who loves us!
The devil knows we're important to God and that's why he tries so hard to make us fail. He's mad at God and he wants to get back at him, but don't take the bait! I think that's good advice and besides, "I'm hip to his jive!"
