YOUR MIRACLE IS ON IT'S WAY!

Merry Christmas!  Yes, I'm a few days late, but better late than never.  Christmas came and went so fast, my head is still spinning.  Seriously, it did come and go amazingly fast, just like 2013 did.  Many, many things happened in 2013 and most were not good, so it's kind of a blessing to me that 2013 did go by so fast.

I'm praying 2014 will be better.  I'm believing for restoration and some wonderful blessings to come my way.  What about you?  What are you hoping and praying for?  Our God is a God of miracles and I'm believing for a miracle.  The word miracle keeps rising up in my spirit.  I believe it is turn around time for the children of God.

A few days ago I was telling my husband that the word miracle kept coming up in my spirit.  The very next day I read a friend's post who said exactly the same thing.  She said she kept seeing the word joy on people's Christmas trees, but the word miracle kept coming to her mind.  I was astounded, because this was exactly what I had been feeling.

So if you need a miracle, get ready, because 2014 is bringing one your way!  Do you believe it?  If so, then share this blog with your friends.

Charley Pride - Roll on mississippi

Roll On Mississippi

This photo brings back such bittersweet memories of days gone by.  All the males in this photograph are gone.  Only me, the oldest, and my two younger sisters are still here and just as this photo is fading, so are our lives.

Those were happy times.  Dad was on vacation.  We'd all pile into our old family car, with no seat belts, no air conditioning, and no radio in the middle of summer and make the long, hot trip south from Indiana to my dad's home state of Mississippi.  He loved it!  He was headed back home to the cotton fields and the farm where the sun beat hot, the chicken was southern fried, and time slowed down to a crawl.  How we all looked forward to seeing our loved ones, who we only saw about once a year.

I especially liked playing with all my cousins, the farm animals, making mud pies, catching fire flies, drinking water from a pail with a dipper and sitting around in the evening with grandma telling stories in her long, southern drawl.  Then, the ghost stories would start.  When I got good and scared it was time to go to bed, but I was so sleepy by then I just sank down into that big, white feather mattress and drifted off to sleep.  About the time I was asleep, it was time to get up and run to the storm cellar, because it might be a tornado coming.  This was long before weather radar, so any time the wind started blowing hard, it was off to the cellar.  How I hated that cellar!

We'd stay and visit about a week, then it was time to head back north, until next summer.  It was goodbye to those good old purple hull peas, cornbread, tomatoes, and that southern fried chicken.

Driving home from the mountains a few weeks ago, my husband and I were listening to Charley Pride singing, "Roll On, Mississippi" and all those memories flooded my mind, just like the Mississippi River, old Charley was singing about.

Pray, Pray, Pray!

A storm that had been brewing in our lives, became full blown just after Christmas 2012.  The devil had been wrecking havoc behind the scenes, and although we felt it, we didn't know what it was until that fateful day when it was revealed to us by a close friend.

I knew in my spirit man that something was awry, something was just not quite right.  I was troubled, but didn't know what it was.  I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I knew the devil was working against me and my family.  He was coming against us, but I wasn't sure how.

In the fall of 2012, a friend of mine invited me to go to a church service in a neighboring town.  I really didn't want to go, but decided I would.  After the message that night, the speaker invited everyone with a need to come up for prayer.  They had several prayer lines and I happened to get in the one where the Pastor was praying with people.  He laid his hands on my forehead and prayed.  Then he stepped up and whispered in my ear and said, "Sister, I see the devil standing just behind you and he's done more damage than you realize."  Needless to say, this was a very disturbing word to me from the man of God.  I came home and shared it with my husband.  Neither one of us knew what it meant, but we were soon to find out.

I received a call from my husband on that fateful day and it was concerning a very, very close member of our family.  Yes, the devil had been working behind the scenes and just like the Pastor told me that night, the devil had done more damage than I realized.

That was at least 6 months ago and we are still trying to pick up the pieces that the devil has strewn everywhere.  Many, many lives have been hurt and broken because of one person's decision to sin.  Sin has consequences.  Sin destroys lives.  Sin separates.  Sin is ugly.  Sin is poison.  Sin is sickening.  Sin is ugly.  Sin affects those around it.  When the seeds of sin are sown, it will reap a harvest and it's not pretty.  It's really pitiful how the devil is destroying lives today.

The devil is in the business of separating us from God.  He hates God and he wants to separate us from Him.  In the garden of Eden, he separated Adam and Eve from God by tempting them to disobey God's command, which they did.  Then they were ashamed and full of guilt, so they hid themselves.  That's what the devil wants.  He came to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give us life and not only life, but abundant life!

The only thing that will restore what the devil has stolen is prayer.  Prayer changes things.  That's what we are praying.  That God will restore back to us everything the devil has stolen.  He did that for Job.  God gave back to Job double everything he had lost.  For example, if he has 200 sheep, He gave him back 400.   If he had 300 camels, He gave him back 600.

God is good!  He can deliver, restore, and renew.  What looks hopeless, is not with the God of hope.  So if you too are facing something that looks like a lost cause, don't lose hope.  Pray and intercede to the God of all hope to restore back to you what the devil has stolen.

GOD'S WORD IS TRUE!

We can stand on the Word and it will always work if we work it!

ACTS OF KINDNESS

In the above picture is Jesus sitting on the well waiting for this adulterous, sinful woman.  It's one of my favorite stories in the Bible.  Why?  Because Jesus went out of His way just to minister to this one woman, that everyone else shunned.  How do I know that?  Because the woman is coming to draw water at noon, the hottest part of the day.  She didn't come in the early morning hours with the other women, because she was an outcast, a loner, one who didn't fit in, because of her sins and her life style.  But Jesus cared for her so much he told the disciples I have to go to Samaria.  Jesus was a Jew and the Jews wanted no part of the Samaritans.  However, that didn't stop Jesus.  He loved this woman and wanted to let her know there is a better way.  In fact, He is the way, the truth, and the life.

He shocked her by speaking to her first of all and asking for a drink of water.  That was out of the ordinary, but Jesus wasn't ordinary.  He came to do the work of His Father and He only had a short time to do it in.  The same is true today.  Time is running out and we need to be about the Father's business, the business of winning souls.

Have you ever needed a friend or just a kind word?  Have you ever felt so alone, that you would turn the TV on just to hear human voices?  Have you ever wished someone would just call you on the phone and ask how you were doing?  There are many, many people out there who are lonely and need someone to care for them.  They need someone to show them love.   If we are like Jesus, we will show love and compassion to others.

That's what Jesus did to the Samaritan woman.  It didn't matter that others shunned her.  He went out of His way to talk to her.  It didn't matter that the women would not have anything to do with her and the men used her as an object to satisfy their own lust.  Jesus truly cared about her.  It didn't matter that His own people would not talk to her because she was a Samaritan.  Jesus talked to her.  She was so shocked by His display of love that it melted her heart.  How could she not love a man like that!  Jesus had compassion on her.  She fell so in love with Jesus that she ran back to her village to tell everyone about the Savior, the Son of God, who had come to her town just to show her He loved her!

That's the Jesus I know.  He will go out of His way to show His love to you and me.  Just a few days ago I casually mentioned to my husband I wish someone would give us some tomatoes.  Our tomatoes didn't make this year and I was craving some delicious, red ripe, home grown tomatoes.  One wouldn't do, I wanted several.  A few minutes later as I started to leave there was a basket full of red ripe tomatoes sitting there on my back porch steps.  I smiled, picked them up, and rushed to the bedroom to show them to my husband.  I said, God answered my wish for tomatoes.  He just proved to me once more how much He loves me.

Our daughter had surgery a few weeks ago and she was just overwhelmed by the many acts of kindness from her friends.  Several sent flowers, brought food, sent her cards, called to check on her and on and on.  She was grateful for the acts of kindness shown her during this difficult time.  It meant so much.

Ephesians 4:32 says, "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

The Father's Love

"I've loved you the way my Father has loved me.  Make yourselves at home in my love.  If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love.  That's what I've done---kept my Father's commands and made myself at home in his love."  John 15:9,10 (Message translation)

You may have grown up without a father, or your father just wasn't there for you, for whatever reason.  It's sad that so many fathers are just absent.  They're too busy doing their own thing.  In other words, they are selfish.  They care more about their interests than they do about their wives and children.  This is a sad fact of the day and times we live in.  If you grew up in a home with a Godly father as an example, you were truly blessed.

If you were not blessed with a Godly father, just know that your Heavenly Father loves you!  In fact, there's not a thing you can do to make Him stop loving you.  He loved you so much He sent His only Son to die for your salvation.  Jesus loves you and came to die for you.

Do you feel unloved?  If so, come back home to the Father and make yourselves at home in His love.  He will accept you with open arms.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

All We Like Sheep

You and I are like sheep.  How do I know?  The Bible says so.  God's Holy Word gives many comparisons to how humanity are like sheep.  First, of all they need a Shepherd.  Most animals can fend for themselves, but not sheep.  They need the Shepherd to lead them to the still waters and the green pastures.  I've heard that sheep are afraid of rushing water, because if they should fall in they would certainly drown.  Their wool would soak up the water and make them heavy.  Plus, they cannot swim like some other animals.  We too, need our Shepherd, Jesus Christ, to lead us.

Sheep are dumb animals.  Some animals, and even a pig, are intelligent, but sheep are plumb dumb.  Doesn't that make you feel good?  Humans are dumb like sheep.  Instead of following the Shepherd they choose to go their own way and end up in a bad place.  We see this everyday in our families, neighborhoods, and  on the world news.  Men choose to live life their way making dumb decisions and the end results are not good.  For example, a young, single woman, gets pregnant, which is a bad mistake, but then she makes another bad decision, by choosing to abort the baby.  Two wrongs never make a right.  Then, this young lady lives a life of guilt, shame, and depression because of her wrong choices.  We don't know which way to go, that's why we need Jesus.  He is the Good Shepherd and will lead us into those green pastures (blessings).

Sheep have no defense either.  They don't have sharp teeth, claws, a loud roar, or the ability to jump on someone and attack them.  They look sweet and vulnerable.  Mankind is vulnerable also to the temptations of the enemy.  Again, we need a Shepherd.  We need Jesus.

Have you ever seen a stampede of sheep?  No, and you never will.  Just imagining that scene makes you laugh.  The truth is, we are no match for the enemy, without Jesus.  He is Lion of Judah.  He can roar in us, as the Lion of Judah and put the enemy on the run.

Face it, you and I are dumb sheep.  We need the gentle Shepherd, who has all Wisdom to guide us in this life.  He knows what we need.

Snapshots Of Life

Simple things mean a lot.  I like simple.  The most beautiful wedding I've ever attended was in a little white country church with just a handful of people.  The bride was lovely in her simple white, delicate lace dress.  The groom was handsome, wearing just his Sunday suit.  No tuxedo, no expensive wedding dress with long train.  The flowers were equally beautiful.  They were simple arrangements of Queen's Anne lace picked from the roadside of an Alabama highway.  I saw that bride just a few months ago at a family funeral.  She commented about her husband of 20+ years, "I just love that man!  He's the best man in the whole world."  Imagine that.  She's still in love.

I like simple.  The older I get, the more I want to simplify my life.  It's the simple things in life that mean so much to me.  It's not the new car, or house, or expensive jewelry that make me happy, no it's that tiny blue flower a little boy picks for his mommy.  It's the time your husband cooks dinner for the family because your not feeling well.  It's the little note scribbled by your daughter in first grade, that says, "your the best mommy in the world" that you'll never forget and that you'll always cherish.  The proof of that is that you still have it tucked away in your dresser drawer.

Yes, simple says it best.  I like simple.  I heard the following phrase several times while in college from my professors about lesson planning and it was KISS, which stands for, "keep it simple stupid."

Yes, I love simple.  I'm not a fancy person.  Never have been and never will be and I like that simple fact about me.

I was thinking the other day that life is like snapshots.  You can't remember everything, but we all have snapshot images in our minds.  Certain things that have happened to us or that meant so much to us and that's what we remember.  We have these little snapshot images in our minds of our lives.
So I surmised that life is like a snapshot album.

So make some memories today.  Take some snapshots, but I'm not taking about with a camera, necessarily.   You'll always remember that day you and your daughter baked cookies together, or dad took you fishing.  These are the snapshot images of our lives.

Barren Times

There are many times in all our lives when we feel God is a million miles away.  We pray and plead with Him to answer our prayers or just give us a sign that He is near and we get nothing. Then we begin to question, "God don't you hear me?  Don't you see what I'm going through?" If we're not careful, we begin to doubt God's love for us.  We begin to doubt His ability to deliver us from our problem and that is exactly what the enemy wants.  Out trust in God begins to wane, if we are not careful.

The truth is, God is still there.  He never left you and He does hear your prayers.  The problem is, our faith has turned to fear.  We are listening to the enemies lies that our Heavenly Father doesn't love us and has forsaken us.  The devil wants to put us at odds with our maker and begin to doubt His ability to deliver us from all our problems.

When your going through those barren places, don't lose faith.  Grab your Bible and hang on to every word.  Praise Him in song.  The Word tells us that He (Jesus), inhabits the praise of His people.  We walk by faith and not by feelings.

In this life we will have highs and lows.  We must face that fact.  There will be times when it is dark and we feel all alone, but the Word tells us that Jesus will never leave us or forsake us, so hang on to the promises of God . He has not left you.  Never doubt that fact!

I Remember When

I remember when things were a lot less complicated.  I remember playing outside with my cousins riding bikes, playing baseball, making mud pies, catching fireflies, playing Red Rover, Red Rover, Hide and Seek, water balloon fights, rolling down the hill in the school yard across the street, playing checkers, coloring books and paper dolls, sponge rollers in our hair, Prell shampoo, can, can slips, poodle skirts, brown and white saddle oxfords, bobby socks, pin curls, sock hops, teasing our hair, orange juice can rollers, transistor radios, wearing angora under your rings, penny loafers, madris blouses and purses, and slumber parties.

TAKE AUTHORITY

As Smith Wigglesworth often said, "I'm not moved by what I see.  I'm not moved by what I feel.  I'm moved only by what I believe."  This is one of my favorite quotes by a mighty man of faith.  We must base our faith on what the Word says.  Some people's faith is not based on the Bible.  They operate in the sense realm.  When circumstances don't change immediately, some people become discouraged and slip back into the natural.  They start talking unbelief and they defeat themselves.  They give the devil dominion in their life.

Ephesians 6:12 says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers..."  In our battle with the enemy and his forces, we need to keep in mind that we're above them and we have authority over them.  The Word tells us that Jesus Christ has conquered them.  Our job is to enforce His victory.  His victory belongs to us, but we have to carry it out.

God's plan for us is to rule and reign in this life as kings.  He wants us to rule and reign over circumstances, poverty, disease, and everything else that would hinder us.  We reign because we have authority~ the authority that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to us.

Now, I want to talk about families, because that's where my heart is.  God didn't intend for the devil to dominate our precious families.  A family is one of the most beautiful institutions in this world ordained by our Heavenly Father.  We must not allow the devil to run over our family.

We Christians must learn that we are seated with Christ.  We must learn to be exalted to the place where God wants us.  Jesus is Head over sickness, disease, and anything else that's evil.  He proved that when He walked here on earth.  He took authority over the enemy and He gave us that authority too, by using His Word, His blood, and His name.

When we understand what belongs to us, we will enjoy the victory Christ has for us.  The devil will fight to keep us from getting there, but through stubborn faith in Christ, the victory can be ours!

Don't Take The Bait!

Today just happened to be one of those days, you know where everything just seems to go wrong and the devil tries to beat you up.  We all have them and some more than others if we're not "hip to his jive".    What do I mean by that?   I don't know.  Just kidding.  I do know, because this is what I said to my husband this evening.

I was telling him the devil had been trying to fill my mind with his negative thoughts.  By the way, he (the devil) only has negative thoughts, because the Bible says he is the "father of lies."   He couldn't tell the truth if he tried.

Anyway, as I was relating to my husband that the devil had been trying to fill my mind with his demeaning junk, I just spoke out of my mouth, "but I'm hip to his jive" and I began to laugh.  Then, I told him, "but don't take the bait".  I didn't repeat any of the thoughts that he had been trying to fill my mind with, because I didn't want to speak it.  It's junk and the Bible says to take every thought into captivity and I wasn't about to "take his bait".

You see, I think the devil is dangling the negative stuff in our mind and if we speak it out, we've taken the bait!  As I said to my husband this afternoon, "but I'm hip to his jive."  In other words we have to know the devil and how he operates.  He is 'ole slewfoot and he tries to make us think we're nothing, but we're precious in the eyes of our Heavenly Father who loves us!

The devil knows we're important to God and that's why he tries so hard to make us fail.  He's mad at God and he wants to get back at him, but don't take the bait!  I think that's good advice and besides, "I'm hip to his jive!"

Hold On!

Sometimes you might feel like life is not worth living, but it is!  With Jesus Christ there is hope.   So don't give up.  Jesus will never, ever give up on you!   Listen to this song and be encouraged today!  Just hold on to His promises.

HE IS THERE!

Sometimes we wonder does Jesus care?  Doesn't He see my pain?  Where is God?  Why doesn't He do something about my situation?   We've all questioned whether God was there at one time or another.

The Bible is very clear that God is there, He does hear our cry, and He does have compassion for us.  The Word says He sees each sparrow that falls and that He cares for us much more than these tiny little birds.  So you see He is very much concerned with what concerns us.

The Bible also tells us that Jesus will never leave us and that He will go with us to the very end.  What a comfort!  Jesus does care and He is there!  Even though we may not feel like He's there, just know that He is there because His Word says He is and the Word of God is true.  God does not and cannot lie.

Just say this out loud when you feel like God is not there or not listening, or doesn't care.  Say:  "My Father loves me!  He is here because His Word says so.  He hears my cry.  He will work everything out for my good.  Now, get behind me satan!  You are a liar and the father of lies.  My God is with me, right now, and I thank Him for always being with me and never leaving me alone.  I love you Father!  Thank you for loving me!"

When you begin to acknowledge His presence, the devil will have to flee and also the Bible says God inhabits the praises of His people.  So lift up your hands, your head, and your heart.  Begin to praise Him in faith, thanking Him for His holy presence.

A Man's Rightful Place

I remember as a child our evening family devotions with a great sense of pride.  Dad would call all seven of us children (of which I am the oldest) to kneel around the bed where he and my mom slept.  He would read a scripture and then comment on it.  He might ask if we had any questions about it or if we had a prayer need.  The best I can remember not one of us ever said a thing because we were tired and ready to go to sleep.  I laid my head down on the bed one night and had to struggle to keep my eyes open.

Dad told us one time about the night we were all in bed asleep and he heard a swishing sound like satin fabric brushing against satin.  He looked up just as a very tall, huge angel in white passed swiftly by his bed and turned right up the hall toward the bedroom where me and my sisters slept.  He said he jumped out of the bed to go check on us.  He was relieved when he found we were all safe and sleeping soundly.  I still get goosebumps to this day when I tell this story.

Dad and mom took us to church every time the doors were open.  I remember one Sunday night feeling very badly and wanting to stay home.  It took a lot of persuasion, but he finally gave in.  It wasn't that I wanted to miss church, I just didn't feel like going.

I am very thankful that both my parents were Christians and they took us to church.  I'm also thankful we had family devotions.  I remember going to bed many nights and my dad would be sitting at his desk reading his Bible.

My dad didn't always go to church, however.  When he and my mom married he was not a Christian.  He drank, smoked, and gambled.  He was a sinner and did the things sinners do.  My mom kept praying for him and about 10 years later her prayers were answered.

We were in the third week of revival services in the middle of winter with a woman evangelist.  Imagine that!  Dad had promised mom he would go with her at least one night of the revival, but kept coming up with excuses.  On the last night of the revival she reminded him that he had promised he would go at least one night.  Being a man of his word, he reluctantly got dressed for church.  I remember that night like it was yesterday, although it's been over 50 years ago.  We all filed in and sat down on the back row.  Dad was holding my baby brother.  The invitational song was being sung when a dear brother in our church walked back and asked my dad to go to the altar.  I don't see that happen anymore, but it was pretty common in the church where I grew up.  This man was so humble, a good Christian, and could not talk plain.  He was a stutterer.  This just got to my dad.  The Holy Spirit was drawing him.  He handed my baby brother over to my mother and walked all the way down that long aisle.  He got down on his knees and began to weep.

I watched with emotion and tears in my eyes as my dad knelt at that altar and gave his life to Jesus.  He was never the same and neither was our home the same.   He totally changed from a beer drinking, chimney smoking, debt gambling sinner into a Bible reading, praying loud, worshiper of Almighty God.  He began to live, read, breathe, and preach the Word.  He eventually went to pastor his first church in another state.

My dad took his rightful place in our home that night just like the Bible says.  Many Christian men are not taking their rightful place in the home.  Men are not calling their families together for devotions.  Men you do not have to be a preacher to do this.  The devil is trying to destroy our homes and families and it's because men are absent from the home (through divorce) or they are not taking their rightful place in the home as the priest.  Men are to be the head of the home.  They are to love their wives as Christ loved the church and they are to lead their families in the ways of Christ.

Men, if you really want to be a man, take your place as the head of the home and be the priest God has ordained you to be!  Marriages and families will stay intact when this is done.

He Makes Beautiful Things

Christmas Eve my husband's oldest sister suffered a stroke.  We visited her in the hospital on Saturday before New Year's Eve and we both expressed concern that she was dying unless there was a miracle.  Needless to say, we both left that hospital with heavy hearts and a prayer on our lips.

Monday morning at about 5:15 a.m. the call came that we all dread.  They were moving her into ICU and all the family was called in.  For you that have lost loved ones, you know the routine.  Family and close friends sit in the waiting room waiting for their time to go in and spend a few minutes, say a prayer, and hope for a miracle.

On New Year's Day her children were standing around her bed.  One daughter was brushing her hair back, her only son was tightly holding her hand, her other daughter was standing on the opposite of the bed, holding her other hand.  Christian music was playing as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other family members were gathered around watching.  Although there was extreme sadness, there was also a serene peace.

As I watched, I thought about how short life really is.  Someone said life is the dash between the year we're born and the year we die that is etched on our tombstones.  The Bible says man's life is like a vapor and also compares it to a flower in the field.  Life starts as a seed, then a sprout, then the leaves appear, then the bloom itself, beautiful and full grown.  Then the flower begins to fade, to eventually wither and die.  That's life.  The Bible also says the place where it once was is remembered no more.

Standing there I thought about life.  We're here today and gone tomorrow.  It never ceases to amaze me, but it was so wonderful to see the lives that her life had touched.  You could also feel the love in the room.  She truly loved her children and grandchildren.  If you talked with her long, you knew this was a fact.  She went to church every Sunday and   gave to those in need.  I watched the tears in her families eyes.  I saw them bend down and kiss her cheek.  I heard the words softly spoken many times, "Mama, or Granny, I love you."

As I stood there, I thought this is what life is all about.  It's loving and giving.  It's not about how much wealth or fame you can obtain, it's about loving God and loving others.

My husband spoke at the funeral.  We did not discuss what he would talk about.  But the day before the funeral, I was thinking, if I were speaking I would talk about the Proverbs 31 woman.  She grew up poor, worked hard all her life, didn't have much education, but she was a woman who loved the Lord.  When my husband started speaking, the first words out of his mouth was, "I want to talk about the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31." I thought how appropriate this was.  Life is not about beauty either.  The Bible says beauty is deceitful and it fades.  "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting: but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised."  Proverbs 31:30

As she expelled her last breath, I believe that was her soul winging it's way back to the Father, the Creator and Giver of life.  Life can be a beautiful thing and yes, we can be victorious even in death, but only if we know the Lord.  He makes all things beautiful in His time.
