I'm Not Ashamed

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:  for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
Romans 1:16 KJV

Lord, help us to be like the Apostle Paul and preach the Word of God with boldness.

REMIND ME WHO I AM

Jason Gray's song, "Remind Me Who I Am", is a song that reminds me who I am in Christ Jesus.  Yes, I once was lost, but now I'm found.  I once had no strength, but now I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!  I once was unworthy, but Jesus made me worthy.  I once had no righteousness, but Jesus made me righteous, and now I am the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.  You get the picture.

The Word says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new."

Not only did God through Jesus defeat Satan, but God has made us new creations who have authority over Satan.  He has no authority over us.  We are new creatures (someone who never existed before).  Think about that!  We have a new identity, a new beginning, a new life!

This song is saying we need to be reminded who we are, because the devil will try to tell you otherwise.  That's why it's very, very, very important to read God's love letter.  In it He tells us He loves us and what He did about it.  He sent His only begotten Son to die for our salvation!  Isn't that the best thing you've ever heard? That's why it's called the Good News, because it is certainly Good News!

Papa's Funeral

She was just a young girl growing up in the hills of Kentucky and she was the oldest child.  Her parents worked hard to put food on the table and she and her brother's and sisters helped by cooking, gathering fire wood, helping with the laundry, and feeding the animals on their small Kentucky farm.  They had plenty of food to eat from their garden and life was hard, but good until one gray, cold, December day just before Christmas.

On this day her daddy suddenly got ill and died.  Doctors were scarce and even if they got to the rural areas in time their expertise and medical equipment was just not enough to save lives.

The morning of Papa's funeral was gloomy and dark, just like the soul's inside the little farm house as they tried to dress for the service.   Every movement that Viola tried to make was a forced one and one that she had to concentrate on to make.  Members of her family moved around like zombies.  She saw Mamie in her long, black silk gown and black hat on her head pick up her purse.  She called for the children to get in the wagon, it was time to go.

At last the grave side service was over and they climbed back into the wagon for the trip back home.  The sky was really gray now, a murky color, in fact, and it was beginning to snow.  Everyone pulled their blankets up to their chins trying to stay warm as old "Bob" plodded toward home. Seemed like he sensed the sadness too.

When they finally arrived the snow flakes were even bigger and the snow was blanketing the ground.  Viola went in and helped her brothers start a fire, as Mamie took off her hat and gloves to prepare something to eat.  The house had never felt this cold and lonely before.

They finally had a nice fire burning brightly in the fireplace, when there was a knock at the door.  When Viola answered, there stood a neighbor lady, who live about 5 miles up the road from them.  In her arms she was carrying a basket of food.  She came into the house.  Mamie came from the kitchen to greet her.  The neighbor told her, she was coming to spend the night with the family.  All of a sudden there seemed to be a little relief on the faces of all the family.  Someone was there to share in their grief and make their load a little lighter and their dark world that night a little brighter.

Note:  The above story was taken from what I heard my grandmother relate to my mother about the night after her father's funeral.  As she related this story, she started to cry.  She told my mother that the neighbor lady probably never knew how much that meant to her that night. I've never forgot what this neighbor did also.

"And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."  Matthew 22:39

Holy Is the Lord

This song is so uplifting.  It's one of my favorite Brooklyn Tabernacle songs.  They are such a blessing to the body of Christ.

Keep Walking On

The road winds long through hill and vale,
I'm tired of walking, but walk I shall.
Where does it lead?  I cannot see,
but I'm compelled to walk with Thee.

My dear Companion, walks close by my side,
He leads me on, in Him I abide.
And when yon' sun lies down for me,
I'll keep on walking, for now I'm free!

The Light

"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
John 9:5

Different

"Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.  Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people:  for all the earth is mine:  And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.  These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."  Exodus 19:4-6

We are a covenant people.  What does covenant mean?  It means a promise.  We have a promise from God the Father that we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.  He loves us so much He gave His only begotten Son for us.  He loves us!  There isn't anything He wouldn't do for you!  He would move Heaven and earth for you!

In this passage of scriptures He is reminding His people (you and I) what He did for us.  He brought Israel out of Egypt's bondage.  That's what He has done for us also.  He brought us out of sin's bondage and He says we are His.  I am His and He is mine.  He calls me His beloved and He carries us on eagle's wings.  His yoke is easy and His burden is light.  He makes a way where there seems to be no way.

He calls us a peculiar treasure.  We're different from the world.  We're valuable, but different.  I'm glad to be different, how about you?  I don't want to be like the world.  I want to be like Jesus.

MY FAVORITE THINGS

These are a few of my favorite things:
a babies smile, new fallen snow, a starlit night, children playing, a fire in the fireplace on a cold winter's night, tulips blooming in the spring, the smell of coffee, rain falling softly while I'm sleeping, wrapping myself in a soft, comfy blanket on a dreary winter's day, a good book to read, a dinner date with friends, worship at church with my family, a hot fudge sundae, holding a newborn baby, the smell of bacon frying, family gathered around my big dining room table, autumn leaves falling, blue birds sitting on my fence, listening to music, hearing a good sermon, playing my piano, writing poetry, the feel of warm sand between my toes, the warmth of the sun on my face, the wind blowing gently through my hair, the smell of fresh cut grass, watching fluffy white clouds floating across an azure sky, the sound of a creaky screen door shutting, lying in a hammock and daydreaming on a lazy afternoon, taking a leisurely walk, riding my bike with my husband, making smores in the backyard with the grandchildren, praying for a friend, giving someone an unexpected gift, opening the door for an elderly person, giving someone a smile and watching them smile back, watching a classic movie, seeing someone who is lonely and talking to them, saying the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, making a meal for my family, homemade chocolate pie, and the smell of freshly laundered clean white sheets.  These are a few of my favorite things.

Newsboys - God's Not Dead

In my generation they were saying God is dead. The Bible says in Psalms that the "fool has said in his heart there is no God." So, if you do not believe in God you are a fool. But my Bible tells me that Jesus Christ died for our sins and then He arose on the third day. He was dead, but now He's alive forevermore! This song boldly and proudly proclaims the truth that God's not dead. He is alive! How do we know? Because He's living on the inside, roaring like a lion. Lion of Judah roar! Let's start a "Love Revolution!" How? By proudly proclaiming just like this song, that God's not dead! He's alive! That's the Good News of the Gospel.

Refrigerator Blessing

I will never forget the night I was complaining to my husband that we needed a new fridge and I will never forget what he told me.  It changed the direction of my whole life!  Honestly, it did! This is what he said, "Pam, if you want a new fridge, you will have to go out and get a job.  It's taking all I make to pay the bills, put food on the table, and put clothes on our backs."  He wasn't trying to be mean, he was just stating the facts.  But you know what?  That statement motivated me to go out and find a job.  Right then and there I decided that first thing the next morning, I was going to the Board of Education and check on my application.  You see, four years earlier, I had graduated with a teaching degree.  I had put in applications at several school systems, but had not heard anything.  But this night I felt a special urgency to check and see if my application was still valid, or if I needed to fill out a new one.
The next morning I was up bright and early.  I showered and put on my best blue dress and went immediately to check on my application.  I told the receptionist why I was there and she asked me my name.  As soon as I told her she smiled and said she believed my application was on the Coordinator's desk.  She said she would tell her I was there and to have a seat.  I sat down, wondering why my application was on her desk.  In just a few minutes I looked up and it was the Coordinator herself greeting me.  The first thing out of her mouth was, "How did you know there was an opening?  We haven't even posted the position yet."  I explained I did not know there was an opening and I had just come by to check on my application to see if I needed to renew it.  She asked could I come back on Tuesday for a job interview.  A few days later I received a phone call to inform me I had the job.  I was elated!  At last my dream of being a teacher was fulfilled.  I loved every minute of teaching and my first purchase was?????  You guessed it!   A brand new, white, side by side Amana refrigerator!  It was our first brand new refrigerator and it all happened because of my husband's statement.  Ironic, or was it the favor of God?  I believe it was the favor of God.  Listen to this, "For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield."  Psalm 5:12
And now 20 years later we're still using that fridge with the handles that are loose, inside light that's not working, cracked vegetable bins, and shelf that falls in the floor every time we open the freezer door.

Run To Jesus

When your weary from the cares of this life and nothing seems to turn out right, we can run to Jesus. He will take us in His arms and comfort us.  In His presence we find peace and rest.  He told us to cast our cares upon Him, because He cares for us.  He is a friend who will stick closer than a brother.  So if your tired, run to Jesus.
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us."  1 John 4:16

Run The Race

This is a picture of our grandson's Logan and Luke running a race.  Our son-in-law, their daddy, is watching proudly in the background.  Both of them love to run.  Luke, in the forefront of the picture, is our youngest grandchild.  Logan, our oldest grandchild, has won many races.  He's been running races and winning since he was three year's old.

There is much turmoil in the world today.  There is turmoil and trouble in the area where we live.  No one is exempt from trouble.  Just in the past few months my family has been dealing with troubles, or the cares of this life, you might say.  My husband was in the hospital for a problem with his heart, which thank God was corrected.  Then he had to have minor surgery.  His sister was in the hospital where she passed away after 2 weeks.  Just a few days ago my mother had major surgery and then on top of all of this a friend of ours just found out they had cancer.

So trouble is on every hand it seems, but the Bible tells me in Isaiah 40:31, "...they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Life is a race and it's hard.  But I'm going to wait upon the Lord and the Word says He will renew my strength.

Earth's Pull

The Bible tells us we were created from the dust of the earth.  It also tells us we will return to the dust.  God breathed into man's nostrils and man became a living soul. Because God breathed His breath into man, man's soul will live on.  It cannot die.  Amazing!  God is life.  He created life.  Man is a spiritual being, he has a soul, and he lives in a body.  The spirit man will live on throughout eternity, but the body will return to the dust.  I believe from the time we are born this earth has a pull on us.  We know that gravity is pulling (or holding) everything on earth.  That's why are bodies start sagging when we grow older.  This earth is pulling us back to it.  The Bible says, dust to dust and ashes to ashes.  Once our spirit man leaves our body, there is nothing left but an empty shell.  The body will decay and become part of the earth from which it was made, but the spirit will take it's flight and return unto it's maker, God our Heavenly Father, if we are born again.  If not, the spirit will go to hell, but it will live on throughout eternity.  The Bible also compares our life to a vapor and to a flower, that is here today and gone tomorrow.  Life is short.  Let's do all the good we can for as long as we can.

Don't Forget

Remember the little song we all sang in Bible school or church, that says, "Jesus loves me this I know.  For the Bible tells me so.  Little ones to Him belong.  They are weak, but He is strong?" We all remember that little song and we believed Jesus loved us when we were little.  But now that we're older and we've made a gazillion mistakes, we sometimes wonder, does Jesus really love me?  How could He love an old sinner like me. He knows what I've done.  He couldn't love me!  Of course, the devil is there to remind you of all the mistakes you've made and to also tell you that, yeah, you're right!  God doesn't love you.  Your far from perfect!  But the good news is, Jesus does love us!  If you've asked Him to forgive your sins He has and guess what?  He loves you.  You just have to remind yourself by reading His love letter to you.  Yes, His love letter, the Holy Bible.  It will remind you that yes, Jesus loves me and you!  And you can listen to the song again.  I love this song because it reminds me of the unfailing, unshakable love of my Heavenly Father to me!  What good news.
